Press release - As part of a £300,000 refurbishment improvements are being made to the golf courses at Letham Grange.

During the Winter changes to the land drainage system will help avert the need to close the course during periods of inclement weather. These improvements are part of a drive to provide golfers with a venue where play can continue during all but the most severe weather conditions.

Letham Grange hotel is also being refurbished and now sports a new brasserie bar and a refurbished conservatory. Work is continuing thoughout the hotel to refresh and reinvigour, whilst at the same time retaining the hotel's homely atmosphere.

Letham Grange provided a magnificent venue for the 2009 Scottish Young Professionals Championship.

At just over 6,600 yards off the medal tees, the course is not over-long yet still provides a stiff examination for even the best golfers, yet is still playable for those with higher handicaps.

The course was in superb condition, especially given the weather in the weeks leading up to the tournament in September, with greens and fairways of the highest quality, and of great credit to the green-staff.

The layout is excellent, with a number of testing holes that would not be out of place in any “Best Holes In Scotland” selection. My personal favourite is the par 3 eighth which requires a long tee shot over water, with the added intimidation of trees down either side. A great test of skill and nerve!

Letham Grange can truly be regarded as one of the finest inland courses in the country.
